This is what happens when an o2 sensor drags on the ground for 400 miles.

Kinja'd!!!

This is the post-cat one that I've programmed out of the PCM and, since the plug is inaccessible beneath a heat shield, I just tucked it up in the heat shield and left it there. It eventually worked its way free last month and has been dragging on the ground since because it's too goddamn cold to dick with and wasn't hurting anything, just making a racket. Finally got the car on ramps and cut it off with wire cutters (precision!). Whooo.

Kinja'd!!!

Still too cold for this bullshit.

Please tell me how you programmed it out. This is relevant for Land Rover ownership, because I want to program out literally all of the sensors and install real gauges for everything so I can know precisely what the ever loving shit is going on.

There's an enormous table in the PCM that basically says "This error occurs, do we throw a code? Y/N" and I set that to "N" using HPTuners.

My GM 3800 Series II using HPTuners, a software mostly for domestics. Not sure if it supports LR or not.

sweet jebus..

looks like somebody already chewed the hell out of it with some channel locks or vice grips before it decided to bungee jump out your engine bay.

for lack of a 10$ 7/8" wrench that happened

*cough*

Yeah.

That's pretty much what happened.

This is the one that goes under the car after the catalytic converter and before the resonator. I needed to drop my exhaust when I re-did my exhaust and I couldn't just unplug this sensor because the plug was behind a riveted heat shield, and we couldn't get it out of the exhaust because it had welded itself in place with rust. 2 hours of liquid wrench and progressively larger wrenches and we still couldn't pull it out. Add fire and a blowtorch and some HUGE channel locks and I was finally able to get it out and drop my exhaust.

Since it wasn't needed, I programmed it out of the PCM with HPTuners and stuffed it back in its heat shield. It somehow worked its way out and spent the better part of the last three weeks kissing pavement.

Proprietary nonsense, the motor in my LR is a multi-generational cousin to an old Buick V8.

lol.

thats fine. im full on guilty of similar.

you should see how i rigged the brake balancing valve on my first gen 4-runner when i built it for trail running.

for the record - the use of one of these.. retained the ability to be adjustable.
